RATP (Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens)
RATP is the largest multimodal transport property in the world, as it operates 16 Metro lines, 2 commuter lines (RER: Express Regional Network), 2 tramway lines and over 300 bus lines.
RATP serves also the two main Paris airports with Roissybus, Orlybus, and the Orlyval shuttle (fully automated metro).
The area where RATP operates covers 178 suburban towns with a total population of around 11 million inhabitants.
43 000 men and women provide a public service for the 9.5 million travels made daily on the RER, metro, tramways and buses, which amounts to a total of over 2.6 billion travels in 2003.
The turnover is 3 billion euros. The investments are slightly above 800 million euros. RATP operates:
• Metro: 16 lines, 211.3 km, 381 stations, 3 557 cars and a daily ridership of 4.7 million trips
• Buses: 321 lines, 3 400 km, 4 400 buses and a daily ridership of 3 million trips
• RER: the lines A, B, C, D and E (EOLE) are operated by RATP and SNCF (National Railways Company). The RATP domain consists of parts of lines A and B, 115 km, 67 stations, 1 087 cars and a daily ridership of 1.5 million trips
• Tramway: line T1: 13km, 27 stations line T2: 10.4 km, 12 stations
